The goal of our lab is to understand how metabolic deregulation can predispose to or accelerate age-associated diseases, including cancer. In particular, we are interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of nutrient sensing and nutrient utilization in the instestine and liver and determine how these processes are influenced by diet, age and the microbiota. To get at these questions, we employ a number of genetic and multidisciplinary analytical approaches, both in mouse models and in 3D organoid culture systems. Our ultimate goal is to translate our findings into potential therapeutics for metabolic diseases and cancer.
